Austin-area rancher offer free land to Elon Musk to relocate Twitter’s headquarter

A Central Texas rancher is offering Elon Musk free land outside Austin to relocate Twitter’s headquarters.

Jim Schwertner is president and CEO of Schwertner Farms Inc., which runs Capitol Land & Livestock east of Jarrell. As our partners at KXAN News point out in this story, he recently tweeted this:

“Elon, Move twitter to Schwertner, TX, 38 miles North of Austin and we will give you 100 Acres for FREE.”

Schwertner, an unincorporated area of Williamson County, isn’t too far from where Samsung is building a $17 billion factory, but it’s a far cry from Twitter’s existing headquarters in a bustling San Francisco neighborhood.

As speculation bubbles about whether Musk will move Twitter to Austin — he’s recently moved Tesla, The Boring Company and his foundation to the area, not to mention SpaceX to South Texas — economic and political leaders in San Francisco are getting antsy about the prospect of losing another company to Austin.

Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) doesn’t currently have an Austin office, though employees have been allowed to work from anywhere during the pandemic.
